Climate Change and Natural Disaster Resilient Buildings, CEBC 71 Business Meeting was held in Istanbul. The meeting began with speeches by CEBC Consortium of European Building Control President Mr. Sergio Vazguez Jimenez, Head of Building Inspection and Earthquake Engineering Mr. Nazmi Şahin, and General Manager of Professional Services of the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change of the Republic of Türkiye Ms. Banu Aslan. Mr. Murat Bayram, Deputy Director General of Professional Services at the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization, and Climate Change of the Republic of Türkiye, gave a presentation on "Development, Sustainability, Security, and Energy Efficiency in Building Legislation." Mr. Hakan Yılmaz, Head of the Department of Construction Works at the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization, and Climate Change of the Republic of Türkiye, gave a presentation on the Electronic Concrete Monitoring System and Building Inspection. Ms. Aynur Miray Sert, Architect at the Çankaya Municipality of the Republic of Turkiye , presented on the municipality´s architectural project review. Prof. Hakkı Polat Gülkan, a faculty member at Başkent University, and Prof. Ahmet Yakut and Barış Binici, faculty members at Middle East Technical University, presented on earthquake legislation, earthquake engineering, earthquakes in our country, and their studies, providing examples. The meeting continued with questions and comments from member countries. On the final day of CEBC Consortium of European Building Control general meetings we feature updates from member countries on latest and future activities. The meeting in Istanbul highlighted current work being undertaken by RICS “Decade of Action for Fire Safety 2026” Ministry of Natural Resources and Spatial Planning, Slovenia “Amendments to the Construction Act”, LABC “LABC Academy Update - Training the next generation of inspectors”, Norwegian Building Authority “Possible changes relating to supervision and third party control”, General Office of Building Control, Poland “Application for managing building control activities during natural disasters” and finally from the State Construction Control Bureau of Latvia “Implementation of planned unified building and registration processes”.
